How an 845-pound reality star documented his journey and inspired thousands of people
Weight loss is a difficult path that can feel impossible at times. Many of us have experienced it, and it can have a significant impact on both our bodily and emotional well-being. But here's the thing: it's not impossible. Real-life instances are sometimes the most inspiring. Consider the case of Casey King. He weighted 845 pounds at his heaviest. He did, however, manage to lose two-thirds of his body weight through sheer determination and hard effort. Casey King first came to national attention on TLC's reality show Family by the Ton. According to King, he was always a "big kid," and by the time he graduated from high school, he weighed in at 300 pounds. Rather than changing his eating habits, he continued to work in restaurants and consume unhealthy fast food.
Because of his significant weight gain, King had difficulty performing routine tasks such as bathing. His physical size prohibited him from fitting into a normal shower or bathtub, forcing him to clean himself in an outdoor trough on his father's back deck.
"Because I'm a bigger guy with folds and flaps, I have to move around like a pig, wallow and roll over to get the back of my leg." I have to literally pull up pieces of skin. "It's just a really difficult process," Casey stated. His life began to turn around after he changed his attitude.
King began a rigorous diet and workout regimen, as well as surgery to reduce the size of his stomach in order to consume less. This surgery assisted him in losing 711 pounds and 525 pounds, and he remained committed to his new healthy lifestyle practices, even though they were difficult for him at first. After being out of work for a while, King found work at Home Depot and has been there for several years. This job has been beneficial to him because it has allowed him to stay active.
