A Dutch court has ordered a man who fathered up to SIX HUNDRED children around the world to cease giving sperm.

A Dutch man suspected of fathering over 550 children through sperm donations around the world has been told to cease .   If Jonathan, 41, tries to give again, he might face a punishment of more than €100,000 (£88,000).  In 2017, he was barred from donating to fertility clinics in the Netherlands when it was revealed that he had fathered more than 100 children.  Instead of quitting, he continued to donate sperm abroad and online.  A court in The Hague has ordered him to produce a list of all the clinics he has used and to have his sperm destroyed. Hundreds of women were reported to have been duped by the man.  According to Dutch clinical recommendations, a donor should not father more than 25 children in 12 families.  However, judges determined that the man had contributed to the...

Far-right extremist convicted of terrorism after saying minorities'should be shot'

Image
A far-right extremist who manufactured a primitive rifle in his backyard and believes minorities "should be shot" was convicted of explosives, terrorist, and guns charges.  Vaughn Dolphin, 20, of Aldridge, West Midlands, videotaped himself wearing a gas mask and surrounded by a cloud of smoke after attempting to prepare his blast combination on a household stove.  In a series of selfie films later shared to extreme far-right chatrooms, he boasted about generating a "awesome fireball," then complained: "Ah the bastard f****** mixture set itself prematurely, oh my God," before adding, "Next time I'll do this outside, but, ah well, you live and learn."  On June 27, 2022, when detained, the defendant stated, "I'm not a terrorist, okay?" Officers discovered a treasure mine of how-to manuals on how to make a shotgun and homemade plastic explosives, as well as how to conduct arson assaults, at his residence.  Dolphin drilled an alumi...

The US CENTCOM commander arrives in Israel to discuss cooperation and combined naval operations.

Image
Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), arrived in Israel on Wednesday night for a visit aimed at improving military ties, particularly in the area of naval operations.  Kurilla, who was received by Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, began his tour to the Israeli Navy's elite Shayetet 13 commando unit on Thursday.  Cpt. "Aleph," who can only be identified by the first letter of his first name in Hebrew, informed Kurilla. According to the IDF, the briefing focused on the unit's actions, recent collaborative activity with the US Navy, and current intelligence assessments.  The IDF used Kurilla's visit to release video of recent Israeli-US naval activities in the Bab el-Mandeb strait, a key chokepoint connecting the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.  Following their visit to the Shayetet 13 unit, Kurilla and Halevi met separately to discuss the "continued expansion of cooperation and sharing of ...

Syrians in Lebanon fear incarceration and torture if deported home.

Image
With the civil war coming to an end, Lebanon launches a crackdown on undocumented refugees as political pressure rises to return those who crossed the border a decade ago.  BEIRUT, Lebanese Arab Press Agency (AFP) — After escaping Syria's war nearly a decade ago, Samer and his family thought they had found shelter in Lebanon, but amid rising anti-refugee sentiment, Beirut turned his brother over to the Syrian army.  Following the outbreak of civil war in 2011, and Damascus' brutal suppression of peaceful protests, Syrians flocked to Lebanon. With the regime regaining control of the majority of the country, appeals for Syrians to return home have grown louder in crisis-torn Lebanon.  Samer claims that Lebanon's army intelligence stormed his brother's flat in a Beirut suburb last week, holding him, his wife, and their child.  Samer, like others AFP spoke with, decided to use a pseudonym for security reasons.  Syrian officials released his wife and children but det...

British nationals have 24 hours to leave Sudan before flights are cancelled, according to the deputy prime minister.

Image
According to the authorities, the UK will halt evacuation flights from Sudan by 6 p.m. on Saturday.  Oliver Dowden said that Britons remaining trapped in the crisis-hit country will have fewer than 24 hours to make their way to a military airstrip outside Khartoum, Sudan's capital.  He told reporters on Friday afternoon that more than 1,500 people had been flown out of the country, but that there had been a "significant decline in British nationals coming forward."  Dowden denied that British nationals who were unable to make there in time would be abandoned.  "Every single British national who has come forward and their eligible dependents have been safely placed on a plane," he said.  "We're seeing a significant drop in those numbers." And, like other countries, we have set an expiration date for this as those numbers fall.  "What I would say is that we will continue to provide consular support in Sudan, particularly along the exit route....

Sudan crisis: opposing factions agree to extend ceasefire for another 72 hours - live!

Image
Rival military factions in Sudan agreed to extend a three-day ceasefire just before it was set to expire.  The 72-hour extension comes after strong diplomatic efforts by neighboring countries, as well as the US, UK, and UN.  However, reports of heavy fighting in Khartoum's capital continue.  The previous cease-fire allowed thousands of people to flee to safety, and dozens of countries attempted to evacuate their residents.  Hundreds of people have been killed in nearly two weeks of violence between the army and a rival paramilitary group.  The ceasefire was set to expire at midnight local time (22:00 GMT on Thursday).  The Sudanese regular army agreed to an extension early Thursday evening, and its adversary, the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), followed suit hours later.  South Sudan has offered to host peace negotiations, and the army has agreed to send delegates.  Despite the bitter history and years of conflict that led to South...

It did include gold, but it was not the only object of monetary value it held."  The investigation has been led by the Peel police airport division.  The force has a fantastic working relationship with the RCMP, who are "a quick ...

Thousands come to observe a once-in-a-decade hybrid solar eclipse.

Image
A rare solar eclipse plunged much of Australia's northwest coast into brief midday darkness on Thursday, accompanied by a temperature decrease, under a clear sky. Exmouth, a lonely tourist town of fewer than 3,000 people, was marketed as one of the best vantage places in Australia to view the eclipse, which also traversed remote regions of Indonesia and East Timor.  For days, an international audience had gathered, camped in tents and trailers on a red, dusty plain on the outskirts of town, with cameras and other viewing equipment pointing aloft.  NASA scientist Henry Throop was among those cheering loudly in the darkness at Exmouth.  Isn't it amazing? This is incredible. It was incredible. It was razor-sharp and blindingly bright. "You could see the corona around the sun," remarked the noticeably pleased Washington resident.  "It was only a minute long, but it felt like an eternity." There's nothing else around that looks like that. It was incredible....

A Russian'spy ship' obtained intelligence about Scottish wind farms. According to a claim.

Image
An investigation claims that a Russian "spy ship" obtained intelligence from wind farms off the coast of Scotland.  According to a joint report by Danish, Swedish, Finnish, and Norwegian broadcasters, the ship Admiral Vladimirsky was part of an operation to map subsurface infrastructure in the North Sea.  The vessel is officially classified as an ocean research vessel, but according to the source, it is part of a fleet that is inspecting vital energy installations for potential sabotage.  Danish broadcaster DR has released footage from a November meeting at sea between a small boat carrying their team and a Russian ship off the Danish coast.   It depicts a man on the deck of the Admiral Vladimirsky wearing a balaclava and military gear and wielding an assault rifle.  The ship is believed to have entered the Moray Firth on November 10, 2017.  Danish broadcaster DR's Niels Fastrup spoke to STV about the inquiry.  "It appears to have been loitering...

NASA: Spacecraft reenters atmosphere on Wednesday; no one will be harmed 1 in 2,467

Image
The decommissioned NASA Reuven Ramaty High Energy Solar Spectroscopic Imager (RHESSI) spacecraft is scheduled to reenter the Earth's atmosphere in April, about 21 years after launch. RHESSI studied solar flares and coronal mass ejections from its low-Earth orbit from 2002 to 2018, assisting scientists in understanding the underlying physics of how such strong bursts of energy are formed.  The Department of Defense anticipated the 660-pound spacecraft would reenter the atmosphere at around 9:30 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, April 19, with an uncertainty of +/- 16 hours as of Monday, April 17. NASA and the Defense Department will continue to track reentry and provide updates.  NASA anticipates that the majority of the spacecraft will burn up as it travels through the atmosphere, but some components will survive reentry. The likelihood of someone on Earth being harmed is low - about 1 in 2,467.  The spacecraft took off on an Orbital Sciences Corporation Pegasus XL rocket wit...

The winner of a photography award admits that the image was generated by AI.

Image
An AI-generated entry by a German photographer earned first place in an international competition. He declined the award, sparking controversy about the role of AI in image creation.  Boris Eldagsen, a Berlin-based photographer, refused the Sony World Photography Awards honor, claiming that artificial intelligence (AI) visuals and photography should not compete in similar events.  Erdagsen stated on his website that he applied to the competition "as a cheeky monkey" to see if such events are equipped to handle AI-generated content.  The photographer also advocated for a discussion about the role of AI in photography.  "We, the photographic community, require an open dialogue." "A debate about what we want to consider photography and what we don't," Eldagsen wrote. What does the AI-generated image depict?  Last month, the award's organizers recognized Eldagsen's work, titled "Pseudomnesia: The Electrician," as the winner of its artis...

Although she is frequently incorrectly attributed as the originator, she unquestionably made the miniskirt the "it" clothing item for a new generation of young women.
