Drew Barrymore experiences her first perimenopausal heat flush on-air with Jennifer Aniston.

Drew Barrymore is known for getting up close and personal with her guests on her talk show, but she was taken aback when she experienced her first hot flush while questioning Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. The former child actress debuted her self-titled talk show in 2020, with recent guests including Jane Fonda, Keira Knightley, and her former Charlie's Angels co-star Lucy Liu. Drew, 48, had to take a short break while speaking with Jennifer and Adam about their new film Murder Mystery 2. Drew was staring down the camera after moving her chair closer to her guests and began exclaiming, "I'm so hot!" 'I believe I'm experiencing my first perimenopausal heat flush,' she explained. She removed her windbreaker and began fanning herself while Jennifer adjusted Drew's microphone. 'I feel so honored,' Jennifer joked, about being present to observe the moment. Drew apologized as she continued to try to calm down, saying she was'so sorry' and 'do you feel this?' as she touched her breast. 'Or maybe I'm just that excited [to talk with you],' she explained to her visitors.

Adam reached out and grasped her hand, saying it was very warm. 'That's fortunate because it would be worrying if it was cold,' Drew said. 'Anyway, I'm so happy I have this moment documented,' she added. Adam, doing his best to give guidance in the situation, joked that the flush was supposed to come with a'very heavy, like anger, a mood swing'. 'Perhaps you can release it shortly. 'There it is!' he exclaimed as Drew made a grimace at him, and they all burst out laughing.

What is perimenopause?

Perimenopause occurs when you have symptoms before your periods have stopped.

You reach menopause when you have not had a period for 12 months.

According to the NHS, symptoms can include anxiety, mood swings, brain fog, hot flushes and irregular periods. These symptoms can start years before your periods stop and carry on afterwards. Menopause usually happens between the ages of 45 and 55.

Drew is known for being extremely open about her personal life on her talk show, and she admitted last year that she hadn't been in a 'intimate relationship' since her marriage ended in 2016. The actress and TV host, who has daughters Olive, 10, and Frankie, 8, with her ex-husband Will Kopelman, said she was instead concentrating on "actually working on myself." She went on to say that she wouldn't rule out going back into a relationship in the future, but it wasn't a 'priority' right now.
