Far-right extremist convicted of terrorism after saying minorities'should be shot'

A far-right extremist who manufactured a primitive rifle in his backyard and believes minorities "should be shot" was convicted of explosives, terrorist, and guns charges.
Vaughn Dolphin, 20, of Aldridge, West Midlands, videotaped himself wearing a gas mask and surrounded by a cloud of smoke after attempting to prepare his blast combination on a household stove.
In a series of selfie films later shared to extreme far-right chatrooms, he boasted about generating a "awesome fireball," then complained: "Ah the bastard f****** mixture set itself prematurely, oh my God," before adding, "Next time I'll do this outside, but, ah well, you live and learn."
On June 27, 2022, when detained, the defendant stated, "I'm not a terrorist, okay?"
Officers discovered a treasure mine of how-to manuals on how to make a shotgun and homemade plastic explosives, as well as how to conduct arson assaults, at his residence.
Dolphin drilled an aluminum gun barrel in his garden shed to build a basic musket - which police characterized as a "viable" firearm - and a trove of material extolling Hitler's feared Second World War Nazi war-fighting organization, the SS.
Jurors were told that he advocated for minorities "to be shot" in posts on extreme right-wing chat sites.
He also shared a video depicting a white supremacist terrorist's fatal attack on black consumers at a supermarket in the United States, and filmed himself constructing "homemade fuses" in his kitchen at home in Walsall Wood Road.
That footage was later posted in a chat group, where others warned him that he could be arrested.
Dolphin responded to the arrest threat, according to Crown Prosecutor Matthew Brook, by posting: "Everything on my PC is encrypted, and everything they'd try to convict me for is hidden on memory sticks."
"It's mostly just weapon manuals and how to build stuff."
Police also recovered materials from his bedroom at his home address, including a PC and an encrypted USB memory stick, as well as from a garden shed, including a "crude" home-made pistol barrel and "homemade body armour," according to prosecutors.
