Meghan Mallee, a nurse who died in a car accident in Meath, was remembered as a 'angel' during her funeral.

A young woman who died in a vehicle accident in Co Meath during the Easter weekend was described as a "angel" at her funeral today.
Meghan Patricia Mallee (26) was killed in a single-vehicle collision on the N51 in the early hours of Saturday morning, just outside Rathmore on the outskirts of Athboy. 
Ms Mallee, a resident of Gillstown Little, Athboy, and a former resident of Perth, Australia, was the lone occupant of the car involved.
Meghan worked as a nurse in Navan's Our Lady's Hospital. 
During her Funeral Mass at St James' Church in Athboy, a variety of gifts were presented to the altar to represent her life, including pictures of friends and family, a comfort teddy from her father that she carried everywhere, her nurse uniform, and a board game to signify treasured family time. 
Meghan, according to Fr Pádraig McMahon, brought "light, laughter, and love" wherever she went. 
Fr McMahon stated that "nothing will ever be the same again" after the horrific events of Saturday morning. 
"It's impossible for any of us to understand why we're here this morning," he remarked. 
"If there are words to say on a day like this, perhaps two are appropriate: thank you." 
"Thank you for the light, laughter, and love you brought to everyone who knew and loved you, Meghan." 
"And thank you on behalf of everyone for whom you cared as a nurse for far too short a time." Thank you for making the world a better, brighter place by being here." 
Meghan, according to Fr McMahon, was a "angel" who provided care and comfort to individuals in their most vulnerable moments. 
During the epidemic, Meghan worked in the Covid-19 isolation unit at Our Lady's Hospital in Navan. 
Fr McMahon observed Meghan's exact routine when she arrived home from work every day to secure the safety of herself and her family. 
"Meghan was one of the superheroes mentioned by the then-Taoiseach at the start of Covid's nightmare." "One who dressed in scrubs," he explained. 
"And we'll never know how many people she helped or whose lives she touched in that capacity." It would be great to assume that people who are still living due of her work will now pray for her, and especially for her parents and sister." 
Ms Mallee's parents, Mairéad and Jimmie, her sister Naoimh, uncles, aunts, cousins, work colleagues, and a broad circle of acquaintances survive her. 
Gardai are still appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.

A tornado kills 23 people in Mississippi, wreaking pandemonium in the southern US state.

  Tornadoes swept over Mississippi, killing at least 23 people and left a devastation in their wake. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency stated on Twitter that search and rescue teams from local and state agencies had been mobilized to assist tornado victims. Early Saturday, the agency revealed that 23 people had perished, four were missing, and dozens had been injured. "Unfortunately, these numbers are expected to change," the agency tweeted a few minutes later. A tornado inflicted damage around 60 miles north-east of Jackson, Mississippi, according to the National Weather Service. The remote settlements of Silver City and Rolling Fork were destroyed as the tornado moved northeast at 70 mph, racing into Alabama through towns like Winona and Amory into the night.
