Coolio, a rapper from Gangsta's Paradise, died as a result of fentanyl overdose, according to his management.

 


Coolio, the rapper best known for the hits Gangsta's Paradise and Fantastic Voyage, died of fentanyl overdose last year, according to his manager. Coolio's former longtime manager Jarez Posey informed The Associated Press that fentanyl was the cause of death, with traces of heroin and methamphetamine already in his system. His death was ruled accidental by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office, which identified cardiomyopathy as a "significant condition."
Posey also acknowledged that Coolio's acute asthma and cigarette smoking both played a factor in his demise. 
Coolio, who was born Artis Leon Ivey Jr on August 1, 1963, died on September 28, 2022, at the age of 59, at the house of a friend in Los Angeles.
Coolio received a Grammy nomination for best solo rap performance for Gangsta's Paradise, a 1995 hit from the soundtrack of the Michelle Pfeiffer film Dangerous Minds that sampled Stevie Wonder's 1976 song Pastime Paradise. 
Coolio grew up in Monessen, Pennsylvania, before moving to Compton, California.
He began rapping at the age of 15 and knew by the age of 18 that it was what he intended to pursue with his life, he claimed in interviews. Before devoting himself entirely to the hip-hop culture, Coolio attended community college.
According to Luminate, his career album sales were 4.8 million, with 978 million on-demand plays of his tracks. He'd be nominated for six Grammys in total. 
He became a cultural icon, occasionally acting, lending his voice to an animated show, and writing the theme music for a Nickelodeon sitcom. Coolio's estate intends to release a studio album he was working on in the days before his death later this year.

A tornado kills 23 people in Mississippi, wreaking pandemonium in the southern US state.

  Tornadoes swept over Mississippi, killing at least 23 people and left a devastation in their wake. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency stated on Twitter that search and rescue teams from local and state agencies had been mobilized to assist tornado victims. Early Saturday, the agency revealed that 23 people had perished, four were missing, and dozens had been injured. "Unfortunately, these numbers are expected to change," the agency tweeted a few minutes later. A tornado inflicted damage around 60 miles north-east of Jackson, Mississippi, according to the National Weather Service. The remote settlements of Silver City and Rolling Fork were destroyed as the tornado moved northeast at 70 mph, racing into Alabama through towns like Winona and Amory into the night.
