Visitors from more than 100 countries can enter Oman without a visa.


 Dubai: According to local media, Oman has opened its doors to tourists from over 103 countries by offering visa-free entry for up to 14 days. According to the Royal Oman Police (ROP), tourists from Portugal, Sweden, Norway, Italy, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Croatia, Hungary, Serbia, Georgia, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Belgium, Romania, Slovenia, Finland, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Cyprus, Ukraine, Spain, Czech Republic, Austria, Ireland, United Kingdom, Poland, Slovakia, France, Netherlands, Venezuela, Colombia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Thailand, South Africa, Russia, China, the United States of America, Turkey, South Korea, New Zealand, Iran, Australia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Canada, Malaysia, and Singapore are allowed visa-free entry. Furthermore, some Indian tourists can obtain a visa on arrival if they have an entry visa from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Schengen countries, Japan, or a resident permit from one of the GCC countries, and work in a profession approved by the Oman government. 


An ROP official clarified that tourists from the 103 countries have the option of extending their visa-free stay for more than 14 days for a fee. Furthermore, after the specified period, travelers from these countries must apply online for an e-visa for a fee of OMR 20 valid for one month. They can also apply for a one-year multi-entry visa if their stay on each visit is less than a month and certain conditions are met. According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information, the Sultanate of Oman saw a massive 348 percent increase in tourists in 2022 compared to 2021, with 2.9 million tourists arriving in Oman in 2022. According to Mohammed Al Ghufaili, a top official at Omran Group, the growth can be attributed to integrated steps, some of which include free entry visas to more than 100 countries. The occupancy rate has also increased by 31.3 percent, reaching 53.7 percent compared to 40.9 percent during the same period in 2022, while the number of guests staying in 3-5-star hotels stood at 173,313, a 65 percent increase over the same period in 2022. Furthermore, Oman has seen an increase in domestic tourism, with Omran and governorate offices co-hosting festive events across the governorates. Al Ghufaili went on to say that Oman is a world-class tourist destination and that the travel market is recovering post-Covid, with people from all over the world looking for new experiential travel destinations.

A tornado kills 23 people in Mississippi, wreaking pandemonium in the southern US state.

  Tornadoes swept over Mississippi, killing at least 23 people and left a devastation in their wake. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency stated on Twitter that search and rescue teams from local and state agencies had been mobilized to assist tornado victims. Early Saturday, the agency revealed that 23 people had perished, four were missing, and dozens had been injured. "Unfortunately, these numbers are expected to change," the agency tweeted a few minutes later. A tornado inflicted damage around 60 miles north-east of Jackson, Mississippi, according to the National Weather Service. The remote settlements of Silver City and Rolling Fork were destroyed as the tornado moved northeast at 70 mph, racing into Alabama through towns like Winona and Amory into the night.
