Prince Harry arrives in London for a hearing against the publisher of the Daily Mail.
The Duke of Sussex has arrived in London for a High Court hearing against the publisher of the Daily Mail over allegations of illegal information collecting at its publications. It is reported that Harry is returning to the UK for the first time since the late Queen's burial in September. His sudden homecoming comes nearly three months after he revealed his strained relationship with his father, King George VI, and brother, Prince of Wales, in his divisive autobiography Spare. Prince Harry was one of seven high-profile individuals, including Sir Elton's husband David Furnish and actresses Liz Hurley and Sadie Frost, who announced in October that they were filing lawsuits against Associated Newspapers Limited for exploitation of private information. (ANL).
At the time, their attorneys stated that the group had "become aware of compelling and highly distressing evidence that they just have been the victims of abhorrent criminal activity and gross breaches of privacy" by ANL, which also publishes The Mail On Sunday and MailOnline. The employment of private investigators to discreetly place listening devices into automobiles and homes, as well as the recording of private phone conversations, were stated in a statement made by Hamlins law company announcing the beginning of the legal action. The publisher responded by calling the charges "preposterous smears" and a "pre-planned and orchestrated attempt to drag the Mail titles into the phone-hacking scandal." According to an ANL spokeswoman, the allegations are "unsubstantiated and highly defamatory claims based on no credible evidence." On Monday, a four-day hearing at the Royal Courts of Justice in London is scheduled to begin, which will include ANL's request that the claims be dismissed without a trial.
